We did it! On September 19, 20, and 21, 2011, we had over 100 volunteers survey homeless persons on the streets of Louisville as part of the national 100,000 Homes campaign. Of those surveyed, many had health factors that make them vulnerable to dying on the streets if we can’t get them housed soon. Now is the time to take action! Thanks to Louisville Metro Housing Authority, the U.S. Veteran’s Administration and others, we have housing vouchers to serve up to 75 people identified during the survey. Our Mission:
The Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. is a 501(c)3
nonprofit organization with a mission to advocate for people who are
homeless and for the prevention and elimination of homelessness.
We have been the voice of
homelessness in Louisville for over twenty years. We work closely
with homeless service providers in our community, civic groups,
concerned citizens, faith-based groups, and our local, state, and
federal governments.
Our efforts are targeted in a three-prong approach:
● Educate the community about
homelessness and inspire action
● Advocate for system changes
● Coordinate the community response to homelessness through efficient use of resources and funding.
