VOLUNTEER

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Coalition for the Homeless. Many of our volunteer needs are seasonal although there are some tasks that may happen year round or quarterly.
 
Below are some areas in which we could use your help. If you have another interest or talent not listed, please let us know how you would like to help.
 
Administrative & Development Opportunities: Quarterly
      
● Assist with developing a CD or a video for educational presentations.
● Assist with mass mailings - folding, stuffing, stamping, etc.
● Have a party or get together to help raise friends and funds.
● Take photos at various events.
 
Board & Advisory Roles: Year Round
 
Serve as a member of the resource development, board development or policy review committees.
Serve as a member of our Board of Directors.
 
Community Education Opportunities: Year Round
 
● Conduct community education presentations for faith-based groups, schools, businesses, etc.
● Arrange for community education presentations by contacting various groups.
● Participate in the Community Action Poverty Simulation by rebuilding simulation "kits" before the event, assuming a role in the simulation, or inputting data post event.
   
Advocacy Efforts: January through March
 
Sign up and commit to take action through the Action Alert system. This will give specific information to contact legislators on critical issues that affect poverty and homelessness.
 
Blanket & Coat Drives: October through February
 
In the fall and winter months we need to increase our stock of blankets, sleeping bags, hats, gloves, coats and especially underwear and socks. We need someone to contact community and faith-based groups to conduct drives on our behalf.
 
Quality Assurance Standards Monitors:
 
QAS volunteers assist staff with site visits at various agencies. Site visits often take anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the size of the agency and are completed within typical business hours.  Before going on a visit, volunteers have two hours of training.
